‘’…to be arranged by New Jersey based singer-songwriter the ajjancy is a weird, captivating, and off-kilter collection of mash-ups that will leave you scratching your head while listening to the songs again and again. The ajjancy, who handles the arrangements, production, and vocals, melds his progressive rock melodies with pop rock classics, resulting in something totally unique while possibly making a copyright attorney drool.
The seven songs are expertly played by a core band consisting of guitarist Fernando Perdomo on guitar and mellotron, Matt Lebofsky on piano, Terry Branam on drums, and Dan Feiiszil on bass.
‘…to be arranged’ demonstrates an expertly executed twisted vision. My favorite song is ‘Babe, You Belong”. the ajjancy gives us a perfect mashup of Glenn Frey’s “You Belong To The City” and Styx’s “Suite: Madam Blue”, taking the song to a place neither of the originals dare venture. The musical gravitas is further enhanced by stellar recording and excellent playing throughout.
”Stairway To Ashes” is another balsy and forward-leaning song combination. However, the Zeppelin main theme is recognizable in this reinvented pairing. Perdomo’s guitar work is particularly noteworthy.
I would be remiss if I didn’t mention “Roundabout Thriller,” where the world’s greatest progressive rock band cavorts with the king of pop. The iconic bass line from “Billie Jean” and acoustic guitar touches from “Roundabout” meld seamlessly. The ajjancy’s vocals are surprisingly apropos, with just enough quirks while doing the new arrangement justice.
How many albums do you know that feature King Crimson, Led Zepplin, Taylor Swift, and Chicago in seven songs?
