Maestro Steve Porcaro helped make the holiday weekend extra special by releasing the first single from his upcoming album, ‘The Very Day’. “Miss Jane Sinclair,” available now via digital platforms, is a delightful follow-up to the keyboardist’s superb 2016 album, “Someday/Somehow. Porcaro steps into the producer chair previously filled by the late Michael Sherwood, delivering a hook-laden track hinting of his prior solo work and his stellar contributions to the last Toto album, ‘Old Is New’. Porcaro enlisted David Kemp as a co-writer who shares the keyboardist’s pop sensibilities. Porcaro also delivers one of his best vocals. Providing a smart, earnest narrative. Former Chicago bassist Jason Scheff delivers subtle high tenor backing vocals.

First call guitarist Mike Landau’s lead licks are economical and tasty, as are the Porcaro-arranged horns, which feature Larry Williams and Joe Sublett on sax, Chuck Findley and Mark Pender on trumpet, and Andy Martin on trombone.

“Miss Jane Sinclair” is a delightful hint of things to come when ‘The Very Day’ is released on October 3, 2025. Preorder the album now from your favorite retailer.
