Short Cuts: “No Way” by Fat Produce (2025)

The Miami-based trio Fat Produce and the infectious groove-laden track, “No Way”. The single, out now on F-Spot Records, pairs the funky in-the-pocket drumming of Michael Duffy with guitarist Addison-Rifkind’s clean Steve Cropper-style lines. The band, which features an upright bassist, acknowledges the influence of Boogaloo Joe Jones with their cover of his composition, “No Way.” Fat Produce’s stripped-down approach loses none of the fire of the original while bringing something uniquely their own. Nestor Del Prado’s bass work is delightfully fresh and equally powerful, allowing space for Rifkind to explore the song’s melodic core. The song, which features the equally infectious “54-46 Was My Number” as a b-side, is a tempting tease into their second album, which should be out in the fall. In the meantime, check out “No Way” from Fat Produce.

The single, in addition to being available on the digital platforms, is also available as a 7’’ 45 rpm record via Bandcamp.
